Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering


The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) was started in the year of 2002 with an intake of 60. The Department is endeavoring to produce highly trained and capable engineers, who can take up the challenges of the real world. The Department focuses on uncompromising academic standards in imparting both theoretical and practical instructions with a view to prepare professional engineers.

The B.Tech (Electrical and Electronics Engineering) Program has been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) since 2008.

The department is headed by Dr.K.Shashidhar Reddy, with about 15 years of teaching experience and is ably supported by 19 faculty members, out of which two are with Ph.D qualification and 17 of them are with M.Tech qualification. Some of the faculties are pursuing Ph.D. in prestigious institutes like BITS Pilani, JNTU Hyderabad etc.  All the faculty members are encouraged to participate in Faculty Development Programmes, Conferences, Workshops, Publication of Research Papers and active involvement in R & D activity. 

The faculty strives to foster and encourage a teaching methodology that is both practical and theoretical in approach tuning to the requirements of the latest developments in research and industry in the field of Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

The department is fully equipped with all the labs required for the curriculum and research. Some of the laboratories are:

Networks Laboratory

Electrical Machines Laboratory

Control Systems Laboratory

Power Electronics Laboratory

Electrical Measurements Laboratory

Simulation Lab (PSPICE and MATLAB)

The Department is actively engaged in research. The efforts are directed towards reorienting the laboratories to establish close relation with industry. The department organizes short term training programs, seminars, workshops, guest lectures by Industry Experts, technical & non-technical student fests periodically. The department is working for the improvement of Industry – Institute Interaction in terms of academics & research and also for the development of infrastructure to match the needs of the industry. The department is striving hard to attain & sustain as a centre of excellence in Electrical engineering education & research with a holistic approach.

The students are encouraged to present papers and to participate in seminars conducted in other engineering colleges/ universities. A variety of academic activities are conducted under the auspices of student’s professional chapters. Many IEEE journals are subscribed apart from subscribing to on-line digital access of all journals.

Educational tours and industrial visits are regularly organized to enhance the practical knowledge of the students and keep them abreast with the latest technological applications in various industries so that their employability skills are enhanced.

Alumni Chapter is in existence and regular interactions happen to get feedback with regard to academic, placements etc. Their suggestions are taken into consideration for various developmental activities of the department. Many of our alumni are pursuing their higher studies in IITs and reputed universities abroad. More than 70% of the eligible students are being placed in reputed companies every year.


M. Tech ( Electrical Power Systems):

The department offers a two year full time M.Tech program in Electrical Power Systems with an intake of 18, duly approved by AICTE, New Delhi, from the academic year 2010-2011.

The course provides a sound foundation to pursue a career in system-level modeling analysis, design and integration of motor drives, through a diverse range of theoretical skills and practical experience, presented in the context of real applications and design experience. This program enriches the students in different spheres of instrumentation and control industries. Some of the laboratories associated with this program are:

  • Power Converters
  • Simulation Lab (PSPICE, MATLAB and Simulink)
  • Power Systems

This course deals with the state of the art techniques in system-level modeling analysis, design and integration of motor drives. The course also covers advanced topics in microprocessors and microcontrollers which are very much needed for today's Power Electronics engineers. Projects of practical relevance are taken up by every student during the third and fourth semesters.
